Animal Stories

MoJo
Part of the laughter last night was being entertained by Angela's animals. She has an English bulldog, MoJo, and three (yes, three) cats.  She found Little Girl at the humane society and wanted to bring a friend home for Little Girl (AKA Princess Lard-ass). So the search began for a little friend for Little Girl, and it was narrowed down to 2 little brother kitties, Trooper or Ranger. Well, when push came to shove, Angela couldn't bear to separate the brothers so now 3 kitties live at her house.

Trooper & Ranger (AKA Steve & Lee)

Ranger

Ranger & Trooper
We had so much fun watching them chase the laser light. The kitties would tear across the floor, jump halfway up the wall and then skitter up the stairs and back down. Amazingly, Mojo just sat there and looked confused.

He is evidently color blind and can't see the laser light. He knows something is going on, but he is not sure what it is.

Saturday Night Fever

Saturday was another day of hosting the garage sale, er, MOVING sale. Afterwards, Angela and I decided to have a girls night out and sleep-over!  Leaving Laton on his own, Angela and I retired to her home for naps on the couches to prepare for our big night out.  Fully refreshed, we proceeded over to Chancellor's Village to enjoy a lovely dinner with Joyce at her assisted living residence, we then spent a fun couple of hours sorting through some of her things that she had recently moved from her home and putting them away. Lots of laughter and stories came with some of the items. Then it was time for Angela and I to really cut loose. We went back to her house, lit the fireplace, got on our jammies and had tea and more laughter and stories. Thelma and Louise we are NOT!

Warrenton

We took a little drive to the old town of Warrenton, VA. It was very quaint and interesting. Click here for some pics! The country that we drove through was rolling hills, trees, pastures with horses. It was fun to visualize the different battles occurring from our U.S. History in the scenery around us. We love learning and seeing our wonderful country.

Creating Cards

I have been working on some Valentine Cards. Close To My Heart offers an Arts Philosophy cartridge for the Cricut. It comes with 3 matching stamp sets for many of the tags and designs it cuts out. I have been having some fun playing with it and here are a couple of examples with the cutouts for keys, keyholes and flowers. Oh, I just love playing with the flower shapes.  I can hardly restrain myself from covering the card in flowers.

Moving Sale Day!

We have been so busy the last few days helping our friend, Angela, organize and sort all the items in her mother's lovely home. We had the first of many garage sales, or as they say in this community, moving sales. (Garage sales are not allowed!) It is rather efficient how the sales operate.  There is a yahoo group established for the members of the community and you post your moving sale, put everything in the garage, open the garage door and viola! Instant Garage, uh, I mean, Moving Sale! Do you suppose we open the Moving Door for the Moving Sale instead of the Garage Door for the Garage Sale? Just saying! We did not expect a lot of traffic because it began snowing last night and it was wet and icy this morning. But the community did not disappoint us.  We had a lot of people and cleared out quite a bit of stuff today.

Virginia

We got into Virginia on Sunday and have spent the last couple of days putting our trailer in storage and moving into Joyce's House. We are here to visit our friend Angela and help her out in her shop. Joyce is Angela's mother and has recently moved to assisted living. We are going to house sit and help prepare the house to go on the market in a few months.  It is a lovely home and  it is nice to have a little room to spread out. We are enjoying the change.  It will give us some time to make some repairs on the trailer and possibly put in some new carpet to go with our new floor. It snowed here on Monday but did not stick. The whole downstairs is as big as our travel trailer and Maggie is having a good time racing around and throwing her toys in the air. We are thinking of having her try out for the big league as she can toss pretty accurately almost 3 feet. LOL!

North Carolina

We have been traveling up I-95 and the weather has been great. We stopped at a rest area to make lunch and walk the dogs about 1 hour south of Raleigh-Durham. There was a nice couple there with a flat tire on their trailer and no jack. Laton was able to provide a jack and some additional muscle to help change the tire. It was a great feeling to help them get back on the road.

We have settled for the evening at Enfield/Rocky Mount KOA. It is a lovely evening and Maggie is checking out all the squirrels in the trees.

South Carolina

We hit the road and made it to Florence, SC.  We stopped a bit early and are staying at the Florence RV Park. We had our favorite standby meal, Tacos and Spanish Rice and are settled in for an early night and will hit the road again tomorrow. Virginia, here we come!

Venison

We spent our last evening here in Dublin.  Tim grilled some venison back strap, rubbed with apple wood spices mix and wrapped in bacon.  Dinner was heaven. Check out this picture...

Luckily, we have a few packs of venison gifted to us by our friends and tucked into our freezer.  I am going to check out the spice rub at our next grocery run.

Poor Stacey had to go to work for a few hours, but she made it home in time to sit around the campfire with us for an hour. It was hard to leave.

Wonderful Pizza!

We are still in Dublin, GA hanging out with our friends Tim & Stacey. We went out for pizza this evening and it was wonderful. The restaurant is called Deano's Italian Restaurant and has had great reviews. The pizza from the wood burning oven was awesome.

Still in Georgia

We spent a wonderful 2nd relaxing day at Crooked River State Park yesterday and drove to Dublin, GA today and will spend some time with our friends, Stacey and Tim.  They just got back from a fun vacation in New Jersey and the Poconos.  It is very cold here tonight, it is supposed to get down in the 20's. BRRRRR!

Lion Country Safari

Giraffes (Long prehensile tongue extends it reach by 15 in.)
We went to Lion Country Safari December 31, 2011, just before we left J.W. Corbett W.M.A., and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I forgot the camera (I know, I know) so Laton took these pics with his cell phone through the glass windows. I think they turned out very well.
Nile Lechwe (Here's looking at you, kid)

Female African Lion

Male African Lion

Greater Kudu (world's 2nd largest antelope)

Asiatic Water Buffalo

Rhea (a real stay at home dad, HE builds the nest, incubates the egg and raises the young)

Southern White Rhinoceros (more docile than a black rhino)

Another Rhino (they have poor eyesight but excellent hearing and smell)

Grant's Zebra (do you suppose they wonder if these stripes make their butt look big?)

Georgia

We got the very last reservation at Crooked River State Park today and we are actually in the same space we stayed in last August 22, 2011-click here to see our blog post from then.

We are enjoying a cool, but comfortable temperature. I found my perfect Christmas ornament for 2011. Julia sent me a wonderful glass tropical fish that embodies Florida and now I found a 5th wheel RV ornament. It isn't quite the colors of our RV but hey, close enough.
