Goose Lake State Recreation Area

We meandered around the lower part of Oregon and finally settled at Goose Lake.  It was very pretty and we had the pleasure of seeing a cute little fawn who still had his spots.  So precious. We had a late breakfast at a fun little place in Bly, Oregon called the Coyote Cafe. Great food and very nice owners and the local people were so friendly. A true small town cafe.  Their soup special was refrigerator soup.  Too funny.

Memorial Day Weekend

Laton & I decided to do the American thing on Memorial Day: 1. Say a prayer for our Armed Forces and a big thank you for our service men & women committing their time and lives to keep America Free!  2. Traveling!

Our first night finds us at Topsy Recreation Site and there were about 50 white swans swimming in the lake.  Of course, they were gone by the time I popped out with my camera, so you will have to enjoy this picture from the internet. LOL!

Facebook

I love Facebook. I enjoy getting my coffee and sitting down with Facebook and checking out what everyone is up to for the day, how the day is going, how they are feeling, what their latest worry is. It is like having coffee with a neighbor.  I was so overwhelmed yesterday with all my birthday wishes from friends near and far.  I felt so cared for, it was the best present ever.  The phone calls from all my kids helped too. LOL. Laton took me out to lunch and then I cruised through Jo-Ann's.  It was a wonderful BIRTHDAY day. If you like Facebook, you can friend me at Carrie Rook Hammond.

Still Here!

It was interesting to watch the lead up to the end but we are all still here.  We are grateful to be able to share a little piece of our area with you.

Beary Best

I have been stamping cards and am pleased with my latest...A Bear Camping stair step card.  I got the tutorial for the cutting and folding of the card from Splitcoast Stampers.  I love that website.  I have flower stamps and an old fashion shoe to create a couple of more versions of this card.  Keep following for my next batch of pictures. Stay tuned for some more manly updates. I am after Laton for some input. LOL!

My May offering

I belong to a card swap and we create a card and send it out each month. Every month, I have 9 new ideas to add to my card making repertoire.

In keeping with my abundance theme I have going this month, inside says:

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.

Happy Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day. I heard from all our children and hubby made me breakfast and dinner (even though I am not his mother!)
And my favorite flower bloomed for me.  I planted all kinds of poppies last year when we were here at this camp host position and they are blooming this year.

National Scrapbook Day

Caleb, Puh and Baby David
I went to a crop today and had the pleasure of my sister, Carolyn, and our young friend, Michelle, join me.  It was a fun day and here is a picture of an awesome black & white layout Carolyn created! The photos are some fun black & white pictures Carolyn & David (also known as Muh & Puh) snapped at a visit to the beach with their two grandsons.

An Abundance!

I have been thinking about the abundance in our lives...friends, family, our puppies, and a spring that has finally arrived.  I have been making more blankets for our new grandson, Vance.  I guess I am trying to wrap him in our love from long distance.  I just finished a couple of receiving blankets, a burp pad, and a crochet blanket. I think of Lumara and her little family and try to weave love and happiness in each stitch.

    Happy May Day!

Trillium photographed by Laton at Mill Creek State Park
According to this web site May Day is a cornucopia of holidays; Beltane, Walpurgisnacht, Fertility Festivals (Yikes), Maypole dances, and a designated Labor Day in some countries. Here is pretty trillium to celebrate May Day

    According to Frost:

The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You're one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
A cloud comes over the sunlit arch,
A wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you're two months back in the middle of March.
