Hillbilly Tea Pics

Here are some fun pics of our wonderful Hillbilly Tea. Some of the ladies really dressed up. One came on her duster with a shower cap. Another lady had a tee shirt covered with sayings of "You must be a redneck if..."  It was hilarious. We even had moon pies at each place setting

Magnetic Knife Holder

This knife holder turned out well. Laton used a couple of magnets that were attached to an automotive metal screw holder tray. They are a couple of dollars in the automotive department. He used some copper flashing that we used in the kitchen around the soffits to cover the magnets. Liquid nails glued it to a white painted board and we mounted it on the cabinet wall.

Tiny House

Since we live in a park model (a trailer on a permanent foundation) that is under 400 square feet we qualify as a tiny home. Click here for info on the tiny house movement. It is a different concept of living. Simplicity is the key. I like searching for different ways to organize and store our lives. I think since we are starting a new year (hey, it's only March!) I will try to search out, implement and post one thing each week that makes our life easier, better or more attractive. I am sure not all things will work but it will be fun trying them out.

Please Get Well

Many people seem to have a bug or some sinus problems lately. Today, at card class, we made get well cards. Perfect timing.

The little pocket with a tissue in it says GET WELL SOON inside. The card with the chicken soup bowl and the band aids have a tea bag inside to help with the get well!

Disappointment

I have been trying to put a word to my feelings lately. I finally settled on disappointment.

Turkey Pot Pie

We have this family recipe That all the kids love and have even asked for it for a birthday dinner or two! Today I had five calls from our son, Lee. We had to shop together (puff pastry is tough to find, try the freezer section where the bread dough is kept), then we had to discuss type of turkey at the deli counter, and finally what to use if you can't find a cookie sheet.

It was a success. Sarah loved it and loved Lee for surprising her with dinner.

Turkey Pot Pie...
2 sheets of frozen puff pastry dough
1 small onion, chopped
1 pkg. frozen chopped broccoli, thawed and drained
1 lb. deli turkey, cubed
8 oz. softened cream cheese
butter and salt and pepper to taste

Spread cream cheese on a sheet of puff pastry, sprinkle chopped onion and turkey on cream cheese, top with broccoli, then add several pats of butter and salt and pepper to taste.

Cover with 2nd sheet of puff pastry. Pinch edges closed and cut slits on top. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.

It was delicious. Sarah and Lee are in a food coma now. So glad they are keeping a family tradition going!

Fun Little Project

Since we travel quite a bit, my purse is a purse, a tote bag, an overnight bag and a snack bag at different times. Needless to say, every time I pull something out it is usually tangled up with my earbuds. So I converted my scrubbie pattern into a little drawstring bag and crochet a cover for the cords. Pretty pleased with how it turned out.
